Maximum characters in a metadata field

By Rahul Bhargava / September 23, 2019

Zoom allows restrictions to be imposed on numbers of characters allowed in a string type metadata field at the time of ingest and during manual update. Follow these steps to apply this restriction:

  1. Log into the Web Management Console at http://[YourZoomServer]:8443 using your preferred web browser. Open Server Control Panel page from the left sidebar. Click Repository Settings.

  2. Specify the value for Max Characters allowed for Metadata.
  3. When prompted to restart the Zoom server, click Yes.

The maximum character limit is now enforced wherever string type metadata is entered in Zoom.

The restriction does not apply to existing metadata.
The restriction also does not apply to Integer, Date, and Boolean type fields. It is only applicable to String type fields.

If the value of a string metadata field exceeds the value specified here, an error message is shown.
