Ingest High-Res media using Copy-on Ingest workflow
In this video, you will learn how to use the copy on ingest workflow to upload media from anywhere on the desktop into the Zoom repository.
Copy and ingest workflow first copies the media to be ingested into a local Evolphin media store folder and then ingest a copy to the cloud from that folder.
Let us consider an example. Mike and his fellow editors need to create a YouTube promo for the Oakland Blues Festival. Mike has received a folder with concert footage from his producer Sylvia. He wants to ingest the high res media into the footage folder in the Zoom cloud repository, as well as keep a copy in his portable drive for editing. This way he can start editing the project with local media even before it has uploaded into the cloud.
Step 1: Check media store folder
Since Mike understands the difference between copy on ingest versus in place ingest workflows in Zoom Media Asset Management system, he gets to work. Mike first opens the macOS finder and confirms if his one-terabyte portable drive is connected. And the Evolphin media store folder exists on his desktop.
Step 2: Open Check-in App
This is where Mike will store his media files for editing. Now he’s ready to do a copy on ingest. He opens the Oakland Blues Festival folder. In the Evolphin Inc vault in the Zoom desktop app, he navigates to the footage folder where he wants to ingest the media. Mike drags and drops the stock footage from his desktop into the Zoom destination folder. Check-in app opens up.
Mike notices zoom has picked up all his media files. His video clips have a high-res selector in front of them. Check-in app notices that Mike has not yet set his portable drive as the Evolphin media store.
Step 3: Select the media store folder
A popup dialog asks him to set a third-party mount point. Mike clicks yes and browses to his portable drive and selects the Evolphin media store folder. He then clicks check-in. After the check-in request is completed, the information dialog will display the details of the checked-in files and Mike notices that the size of the data checked in is often lower than the size of the files on his Evolphin media store folder. This is because for the high-res media Zoom only checks in small placeholder thumbnails while the high-res media is uploading in the background using the Zoom S3 hub.
Step 4: Using ingested media
Next, Mike navigates to the Evolphin media store folder using his macOS Finder. He notices that he did not have to create the subfolders in the Evolphin media store folder. He is delighted to find that Zoom has mirrored the Zoom repository folder structure on his portable drive. Mike can now start linking and editing the ingested media using the Zoom Adobe CC panel in his editing app.
