These instructions assume you have downloaded the <span class=\"keyword\">zoom-unix64.tar.bz2<\/span>&nbsp;from the <a href=\"http:\/\/support.evolphin.com\">Zoom Support Center<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"warning\">\n<p>Different installations may have items stored in different locations based on different Linux flavors. These instructions may not match precisely all Linux environments Zoom is installed in. Please use these instructions as the basis and adapt to your unique environment.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"warning\">\n<p>A new format for Audit logs is used from Zoom 7.5 onwards. So, the audit logs created with Zoom 7.3 are not accessible in Zoom 7.5.x. If you do not want to generate a new audit log index after the Zoom upgrade (could take time as per the size of your Zoom repository), then for upgrade to:\n<\/p><ul>\n<li>7.5.0 &#8211; you need to <a href=\"\/faq-answers\/installupgrade-faq\/applying-7-5-0-release-262-patch\/\">apply this patch<\/a> before upgrading to Zoom 7.5.0.<\/li>\n<li>7.5.1 onwards &#8211; you need to follow <a href=\"\/deployment\/server-installation\/before-upgrading-to-7-5-x\/\">these steps<\/a> before upgrading to Zoom 7.5.1 or above.<\/li><\/ul><p><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a name=\"zoom-server-upgrade\" style=\"text-decoration: none;\">Zoom Server upgrade<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>These instructions should be followed for all Zoom servers, the MAM Server, Preview Server, Curator Server, and HADR peers, whichever are in use. Install on each server machine starting with the Zoom MAM Server.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Step 1: Checkpoint and stop services<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><span class=\"command\"><strong>Stop<\/strong><\/span>&nbsp;services for&nbsp;<span class=\"keyword\">Zoom<\/span>&nbsp;(all Zoom services installed on the machine). The order in which to stop services is <span class=\"keyword\">Zoom Curator, Zoom Preview, Zoom,<\/span>&nbsp;and then <span class=\"keyword\">Zoom HADR<\/span> services. <div class=\"note\">For information on how to restart \/ stop services, refer to <span data-post-id=\"566\" class=\"insert-page insert-page-566 \"><a href=\"https:\/\/evolphin.com\/help\/administration-server\/starting-and-stopping-zoom-services\/\">Starting and Stopping Zoom Services (Linux)<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>.<\/div><\/li><li><span class=\"command\"><strong>Open<\/strong><\/span> <code style=\"padding: 2px 4px; border-radius: 4px; color: #c7254e; font-family: Menlo, Monaco, Consolas, 'Courier New', monospace; white-space: nowrap; box-sizing: border-box; background-color: #f9f2f4;\">server.xml<\/code> from <code>[ZoomInstallDir]\/conf\/<\/code>.<\/li><li>Under <code>&lt;autorestartspec&gt;<\/code>, <strong>set<\/strong>&nbsp;tag <code>&lt;autoRestartEnabled&gt;<\/code>as <em>true<\/em><\/li><li>Under <code>&lt;autorestartspec&gt;<\/code>, <strong>set<\/strong>&nbsp;tag <code>&lt;doCheckpoint&gt;<\/code>as <em>true<\/em> <div class=\"json\" style=\"background: #4b4d50; color: white; padding: 10px; font-size: 80%;\"><em>&lt;autorestartspec&gt;<br>&lt;frequency&gt;7&lt;\/frequency&gt;<br>&lt;date&gt;2014-06-28 18:30:00.0 UTC&lt;\/date&gt;<br>&lt;time&gt;00:00&lt;\/time&gt;<br>&lt;autoRestartEnabled&gt;true&lt;\/autoRestartEnabled&gt;<br>&lt;doCheckpoint&gt;true&lt;\/doCheckpoint&gt;<br>&lt;\/autorestartspec&gt;<\/em><\/div> <\/li><li><strong>Save<\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 1rem; font-weight: inherit;\"> <\/span><code style=\"font-size: 1rem; font-weight: inherit; padding-right: 4px; padding-left: 4px; border-radius: 4px; color: rgb(199, 37, 78); font-family: Menlo, Monaco, Consolas, &quot;Courier New&quot;, monospace; white-space: nowrap; box-sizing: border-box; background-color: rgb(249, 242, 244);\">server.xml<\/code><span style=\"font-size: 1rem; font-weight: inherit;\"> file and close it.<\/span><\/li><li><span class=\"command\"><strong>Start<\/strong><\/span> services for&nbsp;<span class=\"keyword\">Zoom<\/span>&nbsp;(the order in which to start services is <span class=\"keyword\">Zoom HADR<\/span>, <span class=\"keyword\">Zoom<\/span>, <span class=\"keyword\">Zoom Preview<\/span>, and then <span class=\"keyword\">Zoom Curator<\/span> services). <strong>Wait<\/strong> till the checkpoint is complete. If there is a lot of data to checkpoint, then it will take some time. The checkpoint is complete when the Zoom Admin Console is accessible again. Alternatively, <strong>check<\/strong> the server_log for messages \u201ccheckpointing started\u201d and \u201ccheckpointing ended\u201d after the current restart time. <div class=\"note\">To perform checkpointing using the Terminal,&nbsp;refer to <span data-post-id=\"2909\" class=\"insert-page insert-page-2909 \"><a href=\"https:\/\/evolphin.com\/help\/administration-server\/zoom-server-checkpointing-on-restart\/\">Zoom Server checkpointing on restart<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>.<\/div><\/li><li><span class=\"command\"><strong>Stop<\/strong><\/span> services for&nbsp;<span class=\"keyword\">Zoom<\/span>&nbsp;(all Zoom services installed on the machine). The order in which to stop services is <span class=\"keyword\">Zoom Curator, Zoom Preview, Zoom,<\/span>&nbsp;and then <span class=\"keyword\">Zoom HADR<\/span> services.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Step 2: Backup files<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Ensure that the following files\/folders are copied to a safe location outside the Zoom installation folder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Navigate<\/strong> to&nbsp;<code>[ZoomInstallDir]\/<\/code> (this is usually located at <code class=\"\"><em>$home$\/evolphin\/zoom<\/em><\/code>)<\/li><li><span class=\"command\"><strong>Back up<\/strong><\/span> the <code>conf<\/code>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<code>db<\/code> folders to a location outside the DAM folder. <div class=\"note\">If your db folder is located outside the Zoom install directory [ZoomInstallDir]\/, then you do not need to back it up. The db folder location is found from the server.xml file in the conf folder. Check the &lt;defaultRoot&gt; XML tag under &lt;dbspec&gt; for the db location.<\/div><\/li><li><strong>Back up<\/strong> the <code>redo<\/code> folder to your backup location as well. <div class=\"note\">The redo folder location is found from the server.xml file in the conf folder. Check the &lt;redoLogDir&gt; XML tag under &lt;dbspec&gt; for the redo location. By default, the redo location is in the db folder.<span style=\"font-size: 1rem; font-weight: inherit;\"> <\/span><\/div><\/li><li><span class=\"command\"><strong>Back up<\/strong><\/span> the <code>[ZoomInstallDir]\/webcontext\/servers\/PreviewServer\/cache\/<\/code> folder if it exists.<\/li><li><strong>Back up<\/strong> the <span class=\"\" style=\"background: #e3e3e3;\">solr-db<\/span> folder to save the existing Curator indexes. It is typically found under the db folder. <div class=\"note\">The solr-db folder location is found from the curator-server.xml in the conf folder. Check the &lt;solrDataDir&gt; tag under &lt;curatorconfig&gt; for the solr-db location. By default, the solr-db location is in the db folder.<span style=\"font-size: 1rem; font-weight: inherit;\"> <\/span><\/div><\/li><li>If you have a working VideoFX setup, that you want to upgrade to the newer VideoFX or VideoLX then: <ol style=\"list-style-type: lower-alpha;\"><li><strong> Back up<\/strong> <code>zoom.properties<\/code> file on Zoom Client machines to save high-res, mid-res, and low-res suffixes for setting up these suffixes later.<\/li><li><strong>Back up<\/strong> <code>hook.properties<\/code> file on Zoom Client, Vantage Server, Ingest Server, and Zoom Server machines to save metadata properties based ingest format for setting up metadata for ingest later.<\/li><li><strong>Save details<\/strong> about PSAN and USAN locations and Vantage workflows in use. <\/li><\/ol><\/li><li>If you have a working VideoLX setup then, that you want to upgrade to the newer VideoFX or VideoLX then: <ol style=\"list-style-type: lower-alpha;\"><li><strong>Back up<\/strong> <code>zoom.properties<\/code> file on Zoom Client machines to save high-res, mid-res, and low-res suffixes for setting up these suffixes later.<\/li><li><strong>Back up<\/strong> <code>hook.properties<\/code> file on Zoom Client, Vantage Server, Ingest Server, and Zoom Server machines to save metadata properties based ingest format for setting up metadata for ingest later.<\/li><li><strong>Save<\/strong> your SQL Server details for use in process reporting after the upgrade.<\/li><li><strong>Save<\/strong> user details for Transcoder so these can we used after upgrade. <\/li><\/ol><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Step 3: Uninstall the previous version of Zoom<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><span class=\"command\">Delete&nbsp;<\/span><code class=\"\">[ZoomInstallDir]\/<\/code>.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Step 4: Install the new version of Zoom<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><span class=\"command\"><strong>Untar<\/strong><\/span> the <code style=\"padding: 2px 4px; border-radius: 4px; color: #c7254e; font-family: Menlo, Monaco, Consolas, 'Courier New', monospace; white-space: nowrap; box-sizing: border-box; background-color: #f9f2f4;\">zoom-unix64.tar.bz2<\/code>&nbsp;from the <a href=\"http:\/\/support.evolphin.com\/\">Zoom Support Center<\/a>.<\/li><li><strong>Install<\/strong> Zoom in the previous location, <code class=\"\">[ZoomInstallDir]\/<\/code>.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Step 5: Update configurations<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><span class=\"command\"><strong>Open<\/strong><\/span> <code style=\"padding: 2px 4px; border-radius: 4px; color: #c7254e; font-family: Menlo, Monaco, Consolas, 'Courier New', monospace; white-space: nowrap; box-sizing: border-box; background-color: #f9f2f4;\">server.xml<\/code> in the <code>[ZoomInstallDir]\/conf\/<\/code> folder <ul><li><span class=\"command\"><strong>Replace<\/strong><\/span> <code>0.0.0.0<\/code> in <code>&lt;host&gt;0.0.0.0&lt;\/host&gt;<\/code> tag under <code>&lt;networkspec&gt;<\/code> and <code>&lt;webserverspec&gt;<\/code> with your Zoom Server IP address.<\/li><li><span class=\"command\"><strong>Replace<\/strong><\/span> <code>0.0.0.0<\/code> in <code>&lt;host&gt;0.0.0.0&lt;\/host&gt;<\/code> tag under <code>&lt;reviewserverspec&gt;<\/code> with your Preview Server IP address.<\/li><li>For Zoom 7.2 and below, <span class=\"command\"><strong>replace<\/strong><\/span> <code>0.0.0.0<\/code> in <code>&lt;host&gt;0.0.0.0&lt;\/host&gt;<\/code> tag under <code>&lt;ftsspec&gt;<\/code> with your Curator Server IP address. <\/li><\/ul><\/li><li><span class=\"command\"><strong>Merge<\/strong><\/span>&nbsp;your backup <code style=\"padding: 2px 4px; border-radius: 4px; color: #c7254e; font-family: Menlo, Monaco, Consolas, 'Courier New', monospace; white-space: nowrap; box-sizing: border-box; background-color: #f9f2f4;\">server.xml<\/code> with the new <code style=\"padding: 2px 4px; border-radius: 4px; color: #c7254e; font-family: Menlo, Monaco, Consolas, 'Courier New', monospace; white-space: nowrap; box-sizing: border-box; background-color: #f9f2f4;\">server.xml<\/code>&nbsp;to retain your old settings as well as get the new tags and configuration parameters. <div class=\"note\">From Zoom 7.3 onwards, <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&lt;ftsspec&gt; section in server.xml is called &lt;curatorSpec&gt;. Check <span data-post-id=\"11480\" class=\"insert-page insert-page-11480 \"><a href=\"https:\/\/evolphin.com\/help\/administration-server\/curator\/curator-configuration-2\/\">Curator Configuration (Zoom 7.3+)<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span> post for Curator set up instructions.<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1rem; font-weight: inherit;\"> <\/span><\/div><\/li><li><span class=\"command\"><strong>Merge<\/strong><\/span> your backup of <code style=\"padding: 2px 4px; border-radius: 4px; color: #c7254e; font-family: Menlo, Monaco, Consolas, 'Courier New', monospace; white-space: nowrap; box-sizing: border-box; background-color: #f9f2f4;\">metadataspec.xml<\/code> in the backup conf\/ folder with the one in <code class=\"\">[ZoomInstallDir]\/conf\/<\/code> folder.<\/li><li><span class=\"command\"><strong>Open<\/strong><\/span> <code style=\"padding: 2px 4px; border-radius: 4px; color: #c7254e; font-family: Menlo, Monaco, Consolas, 'Courier New', monospace; white-space: nowrap; box-sizing: border-box; background-color: #f9f2f4;\">client-settings\/<\/code> from <code>[ZoomInstallDir]\/conf\/<\/code> and <span class=\"command\">merge<\/span> each file from the backup conf\/client-settings\/ folder with the new files. <div class=\"example\">Additional changes to other files in the conf folder will also need to be synchronized manually. For example, if you had changed the value of &#8220;wrapper.java.initmemory=128&#8221; flag in your old wrapper.conf to increase the initial java heap size, then you have to manually edit\/replace the value of the same flag in wrapper.conf inside the newly installed [ZoomInstallDir]\/conf\/ directory.<span style=\"font-size: 1rem; font-weight: inherit;\"> <\/span><\/div><\/li><li>Only for the Preview Server: <ul><li><span class=\"command\"><strong>Copy<\/strong><\/span> the preview server cache from your&nbsp;backup folder to <code class=\"\">[ZoomInstallDir]\/webcontext\/servers\/PreviewServer\/cache\/<\/code> (if it was backed up earlier in <em>Step 2: Backup files<\/em>).<\/li><li><span class=\"command\"><strong>Open<\/strong><\/span> <code style=\"padding: 2px 4px; border-radius: 4px; color: #c7254e; font-family: Menlo, Monaco, Consolas, 'Courier New', monospace; white-space: nowrap; box-sizing: border-box; background-color: #f9f2f4;\">preview-server.xml<\/code> from <code>[ZoomInstallDir]\/conf\/<\/code> and replace <code>localhost<\/code> with your Zoom Server IP address.<\/li><li><span class=\"command\"><strong>Merge<\/strong><\/span> your backup <code>preview-server.xml<\/code> with the new <code>preview-server.xml<\/code>&nbsp;to retain your old settings as well as get the new tags and configuration parameters.<\/li><li><span class=\"command\"><strong>Open<\/strong><\/span> <code style=\"padding: 2px 4px; border-radius: 4px; color: #c7254e; font-family: Menlo, Monaco, Consolas, 'Courier New', monospace; white-space: nowrap; box-sizing: border-box; background-color: #f9f2f4;\">server-settings\/<\/code> from <code>[ZoomInstallDir]\/conf\/<\/code> and <span class=\"command\">merge<\/span> each file from the backup conf\/server-settings\/ folder with the new files. <\/li><\/ul><\/li><li><span class=\"command\"><strong>Copy<\/strong><\/span> the <code>db<\/code> folder to the installation directory <code>[ZoomInstallDir]\/<\/code> (if it was backed up earlier in <em>Step 2: Backup files<\/em>).<\/li><li><span class=\"command\"><strong>Copy<\/strong><\/span> the <code>solr-db<\/code> folder to the installation directory <code>[ZoomInstallDir]\/db\/<\/code> (if it was backed up earlier in <em>Step 2: Backup files<\/em>).<\/li><li>If you had backed it up earlier in <em>Step 2: Backup files<\/em>, then <strong>copy<\/strong> the backed up <code class=\"\">redo<\/code> folder to the old location (redo folder location is in server.xml,&nbsp;<code>&lt;redoLogDir&gt;<\/code>&nbsp;tag under&nbsp;<code>&lt;dbspec&gt;<\/code>).<\/li><li>If you are upgrading from 7.3 to 7.5.x, then <strong>copy<\/strong> the Audit logs that were saved from the old Zoom Server to the <em>audit_curator<\/em> folder inside the logs directory for your upgraded Zoom Server (log location is &lt;logsEndPoint&gt; tag in curator-server.xml on your upgraded Curator). Refer to <span data-post-id=\"15084\" class=\"insert-page insert-page-15084 \"><a href=\"https:\/\/evolphin.com\/help\/deployment\/server-installation\/before-upgrading-to-7-5-x\/\">Before upgrading to 7.5.x<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span> for details.<\/li><li><span class=\"command\"><strong>Start<\/strong><\/span> services for&nbsp;<span class=\"keyword\">Zoom<\/span>&nbsp;(the order in which to start services is Zoom HADR, Zoom, Zoom Preview, and then <span class=\"keyword\">Zoom&nbsp;Curator<\/span> services).<\/li><li>Zoom Server is now installed on this machine. <strong>Check<\/strong> the Zoom version at the Terminal using the command zm version.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Step 6: Add licenses<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Open<\/strong>&nbsp;the Web Management Console and add the new license key.\n<div class=\"note\">For information on adding license key, refer to <span data-post-id=\"560\" class=\"insert-page insert-page-560 \"><a href=\"https:\/\/evolphin.com\/help\/deployment\/guides\/updating-zoom-license\/\">Updating Zoom License<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>.<\/div>\n<\/li><li><strong>Verify<\/strong> the install:\n<ul>\n<li>In the Web Management Console, <strong>check<\/strong> the version and license information.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Connect<\/strong> to the Zoom applications like Asset Browser, Web Asset Browser, Web Client and <strong>check<\/strong> versions.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Check<\/strong> if basic operations are working for the Zoom Clients, like search, rename, lock.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Curator Setup (if using)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Setup Zoom Server on the Curator machine as described <a href=\"#zoom-server-upgrade\">above<\/a>. The Curator Service is installed as part of the standard setup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If Curator Service is not installed, it may be installed manually on the Curator machine:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Installing Curator Service<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Navigate to the folder<code class=\"\">[ZoomInstallDir]\/bin\/<\/code>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wrap container\">\n<div class=\"content row\">\n<article class=\"post-7016 post type-post status-publish format-standard hentry category-docs category-guides category-installupgrade-faq category-server-installation category-client-installation category-installation category-upgrade-5 category-preview-faq category-server-faq row\">\n<div class=\"col-md-9\">\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<ol class=\"instructions\">\n<li><span class=\"command\">Copy<\/span>&nbsp;<span style=\"background-color: #f9f2f4;\">curator-server_init.d.sh<\/span>&nbsp;from&nbsp;<code>[ZoomInstallDir]\/bin\/<\/code>&nbsp;to&nbsp;<code>\/etc\/init.d\/<\/code>.<\/li>\n<li><span class=\"command\">Rename<\/span>&nbsp;the newly copied file to&nbsp;<code>curator-server<\/code><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"command\">Edit<\/span>&nbsp;the&nbsp;<code>curator-server<\/code>&nbsp;file in a text editor, if required, to ensure the values of the following 2 variables match the Zoom setup:\n<ul>\n<li><code>ZOOM_HOME=Zoom_Installation_Directory<\/code>; by default&nbsp;<code>ZOOM_HOME=\/home\/evolphin\/zoom<\/code><\/li>\n<li><code>ZOOM_USER=Service_Running_User<\/code>; by default&nbsp;<code>ZOOM_USER=evolphin<\/code><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span class=\"command\">Open<\/span>&nbsp;the&nbsp;<span class=\"keyword\">Terminal<\/span>&nbsp;and issue the following commands as the root user:\n<ul>\n<li><code>chkconfig --add curator-server<\/code><\/li>\n<li><code>chkconfig --list<\/code><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ensure<\/strong>&nbsp;that the&nbsp;<code>curator-server<\/code>&nbsp;service is listed in the output of the second command.<\/li>\n<li>Now the Curator service can be controlled, like other Zoom Services, with the following commands on the Linux Terminal:\n<ul>\n<li><code>service curator-server status<\/code>&nbsp;(Check the status of Curator service)<\/li>\n<li><code>service curator-server start<\/code>&nbsp;(Start the Curator service)<\/li>\n<li><code>service curator-server stop<\/code>&nbsp;(Stop the Curator service)<\/li>\n<li><code>service curator-server restart<\/code>&nbsp;(Restart Curator service)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"note\">From Zoom 7.0 onwards, the Curator service has been renamed from Solr to Curator.<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"note\">For more details about Curator setup and configuration, go to <span data-post-id=\"5024\" class=\"insert-page insert-page-5024 \"><a href=\"https:\/\/evolphin.com\/help\/administration-server\/curator\/curator-configuration\/\">Curator Setup &amp; Configuration (Zoom 6.0 &#8211; 7.2)<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>.
