This application lets users perform basic asset operations like searching, browsing, and metadata lookup. But, in addition, it is also a <span class=\"keyword\">collaboration tool<\/span>,&nbsp;that can be used for <span class=\"keyword\">sharing collections<\/span> of assets among a group of users and also <span class=\"keyword\">exchange comments<\/span> and <span class=\"keyword\">annotations<\/span> on the shared assets. <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Collections can be used to collaborate not just among your standard Zoom users within the organization, but also with outsiders using just their email addresses. It is also possible to publicly share links to chosen collections safely without requiring any user account or email address too!<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After you upgrade to Zoom 7.0, the Web Client is ready to use. However, it may be further configured, branded and personalized for use. The global configuration options are:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Personalizing Web Client:\n<ol style=\"list-style-type: lower-alpha;\">\n<li><a href=\"#company-name-and-tagline\">Your organization&#8217;s name and tagline<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#company-logo-and-welcome-image\">Your logo and a new welcome image<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li><li>File upload settings:\n<ol style=\"list-style-type: lower-alpha;\">\n<li><a href=\"#file-upload-location\">Default upload location<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#zip-file-handling\">Zip file upload setting<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#duplicate-file-handling\">Duplicate file upload setting<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#default-metadata\">Default metadata for uploads<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li><li>Customizing asset list display:\n<ol style=\"list-style-type: lower-alpha;\">\n<li><a href=\"#number-of-assets-on-a-page\">Number of assets to show<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#faceted-filters-for-viewing-assets\">Faceted filters in asset display<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#custom-faceted-filter-labels\">Customized names for filters in asset display (deprecated from Zoom 7.3 onwards)<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Setting in the Web Management Console<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:<\/span>\n<ol style=\"list-style-type: lower-alpha;\">\n<li><a href=\"#email-domains-for-invited-collection-sharing\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Email domains for invited collection sharing<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#settings-in-server-control-panel\">Web Client Settings<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These settings are only available to Zoom\u2019s admin users. Once these are configured, their effects are visible to all users of Web Client in your Zoom setup.<\/span> Besides these global options, each Zoom user may also set a <a href=\"#profile-pictures-for-users\">custom profile picture<\/a> in the Web Client.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"note\">Many of these configuration settings are done through zoom.properties files. From Zoom 7.3 onwards, you can <a href=\"\/docs\/zoom-server\/administration-server\/zoom-properties-in-web-management-console\/\">update these properties through the Web Management Console<\/a>.<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Follow the sections below to see how to configure Web Client for the above options:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"warning\">This post talks about the steps required to configure and customize your Web Client. To know more about using Web Client, go to <span data-post-id=\"6832\" class=\"insert-page insert-page-6832 \"><a href=\"https:\/\/evolphin.com\/help\/using-zoom\/web-apps\/the-web-client\/\">The Web Client<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>.<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"warning\"><a id=\"noteservice\"><\/a>Restart all Zoom services after changing configurations on any of your servers. The order to restart services is Zoom HADR, Zoom, Zoom Preview, and Zoom Curator Service.<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Company name and tagline<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To set your company&#8217;s name and tagline on the Home page, follow these steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>On the <span class=\"keyword\">Zoom Server<\/span>, <span class=\"command\">navigate<\/span> to the <span style=\"font-family: 'courier new', courier, monospace;\">conf <\/span>folder in the Zoom Install directory (For Windows \u2013 <em>[ZoomInstallDir]\\conf\\<\/em> and for Linux \u2013&nbsp;<em>[ZoomInstallDir]<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\/conf\/<\/span><\/em>).<\/li><li><span class=\"command\">Open<\/span> <span style=\"background-color: #f9f2f4; font-family: terminal, monaco, monospace;\"><code style=\"padding: 2px 4px; border-radius: 4px; color: #c7254e; white-space: nowrap; box-sizing: border-box;\">server.xml<\/code><\/span>&nbsp;for editing.<\/li><li>Under<code>&lt;repospec&gt;<\/code> ,&nbsp;<strong>set<\/strong> <code>&lt;companyName&gt;<\/code> tag&nbsp;as <em>{Your Company Name}<\/em><\/li><li><strong>Set<\/strong> <code>&lt;companyTagLine&gt;<\/code> tag&nbsp;as <em>{Your Company Tag Line}<\/em> <div class=\"note\">For example, to set the company name as ABC and tagline as &#8216;For all of ABC&#8217;, set these tags as: <span style=\"font-size: 1rem; font-weight: inherit;\">&nbsp;<\/span> <p>&lt;companyName&gt;Evolphin Software&lt;\/companyName&gt;&lt;companyTagLine&gt;Stay Awesome&lt;\/companyTagLine&gt;<\/p><\/div> <\/li><li><span class=\"command\">Save<\/span> and <span class=\"command\">close<\/span> the file.<\/li><li><strong>Restart<\/strong> all Zoom Services on your Zoom Server in the order <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">described<\/span> <a href=\"#noteservice\">above<\/a>.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Your chosen values are now set. <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These will be displayed in the Web Client after<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the browser cache is cleared<\/span>. You could change this to another project or a folder inside a project using a tag in preview-server.xml. Use the value of the disk path for the Zoom project or the folder inside the project. For example, if you want to change the upload location to the folder &#8216;Seasons&#8217; inside the project &#8216;New Show&#8217;, then you need to use the path to the folder &#8216;Seasons&#8217; on the disk. New uploads from the Web Client will now be saved to the new location after <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the browser cache is cleared<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"zip-file-handling\">Zip File Handling<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>By default, uploaded zip files are automatically unzipped and each extracted file is added as a separate asset in the Zoom repository. Follow these steps to have Zoom add an uploaded zip file as an individual asset:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>On the <span class=\"keyword\">Zoom Preview Server<\/span>, <span class=\"command\">navigate<\/span> to the&nbsp;<span style=\"font-family: Courier New;\">conf&gt;server-settings&gt;settings<\/span> folder in Zoom Install directory (For Windows \u2013&nbsp;<em>[ZoomInstallDir]\\conf\\server-settings\\settings\\<\/em>&nbsp;and for Linux \u2013&nbsp;<em>[ZoomInstallDir]\/conf\/server-settings\/settings\/<\/em>).<\/li><li><span class=\"command\">Locate <\/span><code style=\"padding: 2px 4px; border-radius: 4px; color: #c7254e; font-family: Menlo, Monaco, Consolas, 'Courier New', monospace; white-space: nowrap; box-sizing: border-box; background-color: #f9f2f4;\">preview-server.properties<\/code>.&nbsp;<span class=\"command\">Create<\/span> this file, if it does not exist.<\/li><li><strong>Open<\/strong> this file for editing.<\/li><li><strong>Set<\/strong>&nbsp;<code>EXTRACT_ZIP_ON_UPLOAD=false<\/code><\/li><li><span class=\"command\">Save<\/span> and <span class=\"command\">close<\/span> the file.<\/li><li><strong>Restart<\/strong> all Zoom Services on your Zoom Server in the order <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">described<\/span> <a href=\"#noteservice\">above<\/a>.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>An uploaded zip file will now be added as-it-is to the Zoom repository when the Web Client is launched after <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the browser cache is cleared<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"duplicate-file-handling\">Duplicate File Handling<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>When a file is imported that has the same name as an existing asset, as default behavior, Zoom will create a new version of the existing file instead of uploading the file as a new asset. This behavior may be changed to let Zoom delete the existing asset and upload the new file as another asset. Follow these steps to change the handling of duplicate files:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>On the <span class=\"keyword\">Zoom Preview Server<\/span>, <span class=\"command\">navigate<\/span> to the <span style=\"font-family: 'courier new', courier, monospace;\">conf<\/span> folder in the Zoom Install directory (For Windows \u2013 <em>[ZoomInstallDir]\\conf\\<\/em> and for Linux \u2013 <em>[ZoomInstallDir]\/conf\/<\/em>).<\/li><li><span class=\"command\">Open<\/span> <code style=\"padding: 2px 4px; border-radius: 4px; color: #c7254e; font-family: Menlo, Monaco, Consolas, 'Courier New', monospace; white-space: nowrap; box-sizing: border-box; background-color: #f9f2f4;\">preview-server.xml<\/code>&nbsp;for editing.<\/li><li><strong>Set<\/strong>&nbsp;<code>&lt;onDuplicateDetect&gt;<\/code> tag to either MERGE or REPLACE. <p>When the value is set to REPLACE, Zoom will delete the existing asset and upload the new file as a new asset.&nbsp;<\/p>When the value is set to MERGE, Zoom will upload the new file as a new revision of the existing asset. This is the <strong style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">default<\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 1rem; font-weight: inherit;\"> setting.<\/span><\/li><li><span class=\"command\">Save<\/span> and <span class=\"command\">close<\/span> the file.<\/li><li><strong>Restart<\/strong> all Zoom Services on your Zoom Server in the order <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">described<\/span> <a href=\"#noteservice\">above<\/a>.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>The chosen duplicate file handling option is saved and is enforced after <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the browser cache is cleared<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"default-metadata\">Default Metadata<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>While uploading files through the Web Client, default metadata values may be automatically attached to each added asset. To achieve this, firstly, mandatory metadata should be enforced from the <span class=\"keyword\">Web Management Console<\/span>. The values for mandatory metadata <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(to be attached to an uploaded asset)<\/span> are fetched from a Blanket metadata file on the Preview Server.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Follow these steps to enforce mandatory metadata:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>In your Web Management Console, <strong>log in<\/strong> as an admin.<\/li><li><strong>Open<\/strong> <span class=\"\" style=\"background: #e3e3e3;\">Server Control Panel<\/span> under <span class=\"\" style=\"background: #e3e3e3;\">System<\/span> node in the <span class=\"\" style=\"background: #e3e3e3;\">Admin Menu<\/span> sidebar.<\/li><li><strong>Click<\/strong>&nbsp;<span class=\"\" style=\"background: #e3e3e3;\">Repository Settings<\/span>&nbsp;on the <span class=\"\" style=\"background: #e3e3e3;\">Server Control Panel<\/span> page.<\/li><li><strong>Select<\/strong> <span class=\"\" style=\"background: #e3e3e3;\">Enforce Mandatory Metadata on every Check-In<\/span> checkbox and <strong>click<\/strong> <span class=\"\" style=\"background: #e8c8c8; font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva, sans-serif;\">Save<\/span>.<\/li><li><strong>Click<\/strong> <span class=\"\" style=\"background: #e8c8c8; font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva, sans-serif;\">Yes<\/span> to restart the Zoom Server.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Mandatory metadata is now enforced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Next, follow these steps to create and configure a blanket metadata file:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Create a text file that has one or more metadata value pairs in the following format: MetadataGroupCode_MetadataFieldName=MetadataValue <div class=\"note\"><p>A sample metadata file would have such entries:<\/p> <p>IPTC_Country=India<\/p><span style=\"font-size: 1rem; font-weight: inherit;\">IPTC_City=Gurugram<\/span><\/div><p>The metadata file may be created anywhere. It is a text file that specifies all metadata value pairs that would be attached to assets uploaded from the Web Client.<\/p> <\/li><li>On the <span class=\"keyword\">Zoom Preview Server<\/span>, <span class=\"command\">navigate<\/span> to the <span style=\"font-family: 'courier new', courier, monospace;\">conf<\/span> folder in the Zoom Install directory (For Windows \u2013 <em>[ZoomInstallDir]\\conf\\<\/em> and for Linux \u2013 <em>[ZoomInstallDir]\/conf\/<\/em>).<\/li><li><span class=\"command\">Open<\/span> <code style=\"padding: 2px 4px; border-radius: 4px; color: #c7254e; font-family: Menlo, Monaco, Consolas, 'Courier New', monospace; white-space: nowrap; box-sizing: border-box; background-color: #f9f2f4;\">preview-server.xml<\/code>&nbsp;for editing.<\/li><li>Under <code>&lt;previewserverspec&gt;<\/code>, update <code>&lt;defaultBlanketMDFile&gt;<\/code> tag to <em>{Metadata filename with absolute path}<\/em><\/li><li><strong>Save<\/strong> and <span class=\"command\">close<\/span> the file.<\/li><li><strong>Restart<\/strong> all Zoom Services on your Zoom Server in the order <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">described<\/span> <a href=\"#noteservice\">above<\/a>.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>The default metadata values are now configured, these are enforced when the Web Client is launched after <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the browser cache is cleared<\/span>. Every time an asset is uploaded from the Web Client, these metadata values will be attached to it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"number-of-assets-on-a-page\">Number of Assets on a Page<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>By default, 60 assets are shown at a time in the Web Client Assets page. If you continue scrolling down, more assets are displayed. <a href=\"#Img4\">Image 3<\/a> shows that 60 assets are loaded of the 273 filtered assets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To change the&nbsp;number of assets loaded at a time on the Assets page,&nbsp;update <span class=\"keyword\">zoom.properties<\/span> for the Preview Server. A few things to remember here are:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Allowed domains list takes precedence over the blocked domains list. This means that if any domains are listed in the allowed list, then all other domains are blocked. To only block a few domains and allow the rest, you should only specify those few domains in the blocked list and keep the allowed list empty.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While sharing a collection using email, the email address\u2019s domain is checked against these lists. Any domain not meeting the allowed criteria is not allowed to be specified in the collection-sharing window.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Adding or removing any domains from the domain lists does not affect any email invites already sent out to email domains that now meet the blocked criteria.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Whenever any new account is created on the Web Client, using an email invite sent for collection sharing, the email domain is again checked against the current email domain allowed and blocked criteria.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If an email domain is blocked after an external user has created an account using a sharing invite sent to that domain, then the user is still allowed to log in and access the shared collection.<\/span><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Follow these steps to update the email domains for collection-sharing:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Log in<\/strong> as an Admin user in your Web Management Console.<\/span><\/li><li><b>Open<\/b> <span class=\"\" style=\"font-weight: 400; background: #e3e3e3;\">Email Domains<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> under <\/span><span class=\"\" style=\"font-weight: 400; background: #e3e3e3;\">System<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> node in the <\/span><span class=\"\" style=\"font-weight: 400; background: #e3e3e3;\">Admin Menu<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> sidebar.<\/span> <figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"835\" height=\"442\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-11486 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/evolphin.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/img_5d0b7afcb4f3d-1024x542.png\" alt=\"\"><\/figure><p id=\"RnkCnxg\"><\/li><li><b>Update<\/b> <span class=\"\" style=\"font-weight: 400; background: #e3e3e3;\">Allowed Domains<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><span class=\"\" style=\"font-weight: 400; background: #e3e3e3;\">Blocked Domains<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> lists on the <\/span><span class=\"\" style=\"font-weight: 400; background: #e3e3e3;\">Email Configuration<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> page as needed and <\/span><b>click<\/b> <span class=\"\" style=\"font-weight: 400; background: #e8c8c8; font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva, sans-serif;\">Save<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Email domain allowed\/blocked criteria are now updated.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Settings in Server Control Panel<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A few settings for Web Client are also configurable from the Server Control Panel. Although the Web Client is configured for use right after Zoom installation or upgrade, you can still make changes to these settings when needed. Follow these steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Log in<\/strong> as an Admin user in your Web Management Console.<\/span><\/li><li><b>Open<\/b> <span class=\"\" style=\"font-weight: 400; background: #e3e3e3;\">Server Control Panel<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> under <\/span><span class=\"\" style=\"font-weight: 400; background: #e3e3e3;\">System<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> node in the <\/span><span class=\"\" style=\"font-weight: 400; background: #e3e3e3;\">Admin Menu<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> sidebar.<\/span><\/li><li>In the Server Control Panel,<strong> c<\/strong>lick on <span class=\"\" style=\"background: #e8c8c8; font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva, sans-serif;\">WebClient Settings<\/span>. <figure><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-11519 \" src=\"https:\/\/evolphin.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/img_5d0cb953b959a.png\" alt=\"\"><\/figure><p id=\"lCTJgBc\"><\/li><li>In the Edit WebClient Settings window, the default settings are usually good to work with. If you need to change any setting, this is a brief description of each of them: <ol style=\"list-style-type: lower-alpha;\"><li><strong><a id=\"coll_type\"><\/a>Default Collection Type<\/strong>: this setting specifies the type of collections that will be created in the Web Client. The user can choose to specify either EXTERNAL or INTERNAL. Before Zoom 7.2, all collections were internal. After upgrading to Zoom 7.2 or later versions, choose to enable EXTERNAL collections explicitly from here to start using external collections. To know more about external and internal collections, go to <a href=\"\/docs\/zoom-client\/the-web-client\/#collection-types-and-permissions\">Collection types and permissions<\/a>. <div class=\"warning\">Any external or internal collections existing prior to changing this value will remain as they are. The value only affects the creation of new collections.<\/div> <\/li><li><strong>Token expiration time<\/strong>: specify the time duration till which a user&#8217;s idle session will remain active. The value is in milliseconds and the default value is 300000 milliseconds (5 minutes).<\/li><li><strong>Sender&#8217;s name in collection email<\/strong>: specify the sender name that will be shown for emails sent from Web Client.<\/li><li><strong>Notify on asset approve\/reject<\/strong>: choose whether to receive email notifications whenever an asset is approved or rejected in a collection. The default value is true.<\/li><li><strong>Notifiers for asset approve\/reject<\/strong>: choose which users will receive asset approval\/rejection notifications from the drop-down list. The default value is ALL which includes super admins, owners, and admins of the collection.<\/li><li><strong>Notify on any change on assets<\/strong>: choose whether to receive email notifications whenever an asset in a collection is modified in the Web Client or the Asset Browser. The default value is false. <\/li><\/ol><\/li><li><strong>Update<\/strong> the desired values and <strong>click<\/strong> <span class=\"\" style=\"background: #e8c8c8; font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva, sans-serif;\">Save<\/span>.<\/li><li>A confirmation message informs that the values are updated successfully.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"profile-pictures-for-users\">Profile Pictures for Users<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>From <span class=\"keyword\">Zoom 7.1<\/span> onwards, users can update their profile picture from the user menu. The user menu is displayed by clicking the user profile icon that is shown in the top right of a page after a successful login.
