Assuming e.g.\u00a0<\/span>ZS1, ZS2 &amp; ZS3 = Three servers with independent DBs (I mode)<\/li><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Preview server(s) installed on separate machines (Assuming e.g. ZPS1 &amp; ZPS2)<\/span><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Steps<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For each Zoom Server:<\/span> <ol><li><b>Restart<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the Zoom Server service <\/span><b>with checkpoint<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span> <ol><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Use the javaZoom utility as given in: <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/evolphin.com\/help\/docs\/v5\/server\/zoom-server-checkpointing-on-restart\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">https:\/\/evolphin.com\/help\/docs\/v5\/server\/zoom-server-checkpointing-on-restart\/<\/span><\/a><\/li><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A privileged user is required to restart the service when using the javaZoom command.<\/span> <ol><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On Windows: <strong>Open<\/strong> Command Prompt as Administrator.<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On Linux: <strong>Switch<\/strong> to the root user in the Terminal.<\/span> <\/li><\/ol><\/li><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Otherwise, use javaZoom to enable checkpoint but not restart (-nr option). Then services can be restarted manually, as done normally.<\/span> <\/li><\/ol><\/li><li><b>Wait<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for the checkpoint to complete. <\/span> <\/li><\/ol><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Note:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This checkpoint restart can be done in a staggered manner, i.e. one Zoom Server at a time, so that the users are able to use the system while one service is unavailable during checkpointing.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Preferably, perform this upgrade process soon after the scheduled auto-restart of the Zoom servers, so that there is lesser data to checkpoint and it completes faster.<\/span><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"3\"><li><b>Open<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the HADR Dashboard Status page in the Web Management Console. <\/span><b>Wait<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> till all the servers (or at least the DB writer server(s)) have the same <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Last Delivered<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> transaction number, matching the highest <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Last Proposed<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> number.<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Immediately<\/span><b>, stop<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the Zoom server services on all the machines ZS1, ZS2 &amp; ZS3.<\/span><\/li><li><b>Stop<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the HADR file-server services on all the machines ZS1, ZS2 &amp; ZS3.<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Again, <\/span><b>restart<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with checkpointing, each Zoom server service. <\/span><b>Wait<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for checkpointing to complete and then immediately <\/span><b>stop<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the service.<\/span><\/li><li><b>Stop<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the preview-server service (and curator-server service, if enabled) on the ZPS1 &amp; ZPS2 machine(s).<\/span><\/li><li><b>Copy<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> or <\/span><b>backup<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the conf folder on each Zoom server &amp; Preview server<\/span><\/li><li><b>Move<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> or <\/span><b>backup<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the db folder out of the installation directory in each zoom server.<\/span><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If db folder is not located in the installation directory, you do not need to back up the db<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Move or back up<\/strong> the preview cache folder out of the Zoom installation directory on the ZPS machines. <ol><li>Preview cache location is given in the &lt;previewCacheLocation> field in the conf\/preview-server.xml file.<\/li><li>Skip this step if the preview cache folder is not located in the installation directory. <\/li><\/ol><\/li><li><strong>Uninstall<\/strong> the Zoom installation on all the server &amp; preview-server machines (ZS1, ZS2, ZS3; ZPS1, ZPS2) : <ol><li>On Windows: From the Control Panel > Programs > <strong>Uninstall<\/strong> the Evolphin Zoom program, or uninstall using the old cached installer.<\/li><li>On Linux: <strong>Delete<\/strong> the ZOOM_INSTALL_DIR folder. <\/li><\/ol><\/li><li><strong>Install<\/strong> the new Evolphin Zoom version <ol><li>On Windows: <strong>Install<\/strong> using the Setup file. Stop all the Zoom services after the <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">installation completes.<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On Linux: <\/span><b>Unzip<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the zoom-unix64.tar.bz2 setup file.<\/span> <\/li><\/ol><\/li><li><b>Copy<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the new conf folder in any one server to a new backup.<\/span> <ol><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is useful in comparing and adding any new files, properties, or changes required for the new Zoom version into the existing conf.<\/span> <\/li><\/ol><\/li><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On each Zoom server, <\/span><b>copy<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> all files\/folders from the earlier backup conf\/ and replace them in the new [ZOOM_INSTALL_DIR]\/conf\/<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On each Preview server, <\/span><b>copy<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> all files\/folders from the earlier backup conf\/ and replace them in the new [ZOOM_INSTALL_DIR]\/conf\/<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On each Zoom server, <\/span><b>if<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> it had been moved out of the installation directory in step 7, <\/span><b>move<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the DB folder back to its original location.<\/span><\/li><li><b>Start<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the Zoom &amp; HADR service on ZS1, ZS2 &amp; ZS3<\/span><\/li><li><b>Start<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the Preview service (and Curator service, if enabled) on ZPS1 &amp; ZPS2 machines.<\/span><\/li><\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Prerequisites Zoom should be installed with the HADR module in (I) configuration, i.e. Independent DB locations, not shared, at each Zoom server.
