{"id":6086,"date":"2017-03-30T22:03:41","date_gmt":"2017-03-30T22:03:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/evolphin.com\/help\/?p=6086"},"modified":"2017-03-30T22:03:41","modified_gmt":"2017-03-30T22:03:41","slug":"synchronizing-client-settings-from-the-server","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/evolphin.com\/help\/using-zoom\/zoom-client\/synchronizing-client-settings-from-the-server\/","title":{"rendered":"Synchronizing Client Settings from the Server"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Up until Zoom 7.2, administrators have the ability to push many of the common settings to the current users by creating a template that then Zoom will use to modify or replace the existing files in the user&#8217;s workstation.<\/p>\n<p>To do this, simply create a text file and set the variables and values you would like to import, one per line. For example, if you want all clients to receive alerts related to their projects then you would need to add <span class=\"keyword\">SHOW_STATUS_ALERT=true<\/span> and all clients who\u00a0synchronize with the server will have this variable\u00a0updated.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0path in the server where you can place these is\u00a0<span class=\"keyword\">\/zoom\/conf\/client-settings<\/span>. Note that files that normally reside at the root level in <span class=\"keyword\">\/.zm<\/span> are placed at the root level here as well (\/client-settings) and\u00a0for files inside subfolders you will need to replicate the folder hierarchy in the server in order to sync them successfully. For instance, to synchronize\u00a0<span class=\"keyword\">serverwc-settings.xml<\/span> you would need to place an XML file in\u00a0<span class=\"keyword\">\/zoom\/conf\/client-settings\/settings\/serverwc<\/span>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"note\">Only files that are .properties or .xml will merge the changes with the existing document. All other formats will simply replace the current file.<\/div>\n<div class=\"note\">Users who want to be excluded from synchronization may do so in their Z-Settings by disabling the variable SYNCUP_ENABLED.<\/div>\n<div class=\"warning\">From Zoom 7.3 onwards, the client-settings folder is not used for property synchronization anymore. Instead, <span data-post-id=\"9056\" class=\"insert-page insert-page-9056 \"><a href=\"https:\/\/evolphin.com\/help\/administration-server\/configuration-server\/server-zoom-properties\/\">Server Zoom Properties<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span> is available to configure the default properties and their values at the Zoom Server for use by all Zoom Clients.<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Up until Zoom 7.2, administrators have the ability to push many of the common settings to the current users by creating a template that then Zoom will use to modify or replace the existing files in the user&#8217;s workstation.
