From Zoom 5.3 <\/span>and above, Zoom supports configuring Hot Folder instances on a remote machine. This is useful for example, when we have to setup Hot Folders to run on headless terminals.<\/p>\n

There are two ways of configuring on a remote machine:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Through GUI settings on any regular\u00a0machine where Zoom client is installed.<\/li>\n
  2. Through HTTP request from\u00a0a headless \/ regular\u00a0machine.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
    Only superadmin users can perform remote Hot Folder configurations<\/div>\n

    Enabling GUI settings for Remote Hot Folder Configuration<\/h3>\n

    To setup a hot folder on a remote\u00a0machine, the administrator needs to enable the “Push Settings” option under the Hot Folder configuration menu in the Settings dialog. Do the following to accomplish this.<\/p>\n

      \n
    1. Locate the zoom.properties. Location of the file in different platforms given in the table below:

      Windows<\/strong><\/td>\nC:\\Users\\username\\.zm\\<\/code><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/li>\n
    2. Open the file in a text editor.<\/li>\n
    3. Add a new property key: ENABLE_HOT_FOLDER_PUSH_SETTING<\/code>.<\/li>\n
    4. Set its value to TRUE<\/code> (to enable push settings):\u00a0ENABLE_HOT_FOLDER_PUSH_SETTING=TRUE<\/strong><\/code><\/li>\n
    5. Save the file and restart the Zoom ClientProxy.<\/li>\n
    6. Open the Z settings dialog.<\/li>\n
    7. A new node must now become visible under\u00a0the Hot Folder Settings<\/code> node Push hot folders settings<\/code>. See the sample screen-shot<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Authenticating the Push Settings<\/h4>\n
        \n
      1. Enter the remote\u00a0machine’s IP\u00a0address and press Enter<\/span>.
        \n        \"HFPushSettings\"<\/a><\/li>\n
      2. The hot folder mechanism will authenticate the server url. Please provide administrator credentials<\/span> if prompted for username and password.<\/li>\n
      3. After verification, enter the\u00a0Clientproxy’s URL<\/span>\u00a0to set the hot folder and enter the Hot folder credentials to validate.<\/li>\n
      4. Once validated, you can proceed by clicking on the Create<\/span> button.

      5. Hot Folder Settings dialog will open where you can specify the Hot Folder details like folder path etc \u00a0and click on Push Settings.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0\"Push<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        Note: The folder and file paths specified in the settings should be valid\u00a0on the remote\u00a0machine.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

        Setting HTTP request<\/h3>\n

        To setup hot folder using an HTTP request, certain parameters will be required to be able to add\/update\/delete hot folders. The HTTP request can be made from any\u00a0machine. The HTTP request will be made to the ClientProxy URL<\/span>\u00a0of the machine where the hot folder needs to be set up. The following table shows the complete list of parameters which can be passed with request.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

        adminuser<\/td>\n–<\/td>\n–<\/td>\nThe user having administrative role can perform the action<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
        admincookie<\/td>\n–<\/td>\n–<\/td>\nThe cookie will be required to validate the login on the headless machine. You can get cookie by running the getCredentials<\/span> command from where the request is being sent<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
        hfuser<\/td>\n–<\/td>\n–<\/td>\nIs the hot folder user who authenticates the hot import<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
        hfpasswd<\/td>\n–<\/td>\n–<\/td>\nIs the password for the hot folder user<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
        project<\/td>\n–<\/td>\n–<\/td>\nIs the project name on which the hot folder is set to<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
        isActive<\/td>\nfalse<\/td>\ntrue, false<\/td>\nDetermines whether the hot folder is Under Monitoring or not. The default value is false<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
        importTo<\/td>\n\u00a0–<\/td>\n\u00a0–<\/td>\nIs the destination the zoom server where the assets will be imported to<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
        folderPath<\/td>\n–<\/td>\n–<\/td>\nIs the path of the hot folder from where the assets will be ingest to Zoom<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
        syncEvery<\/td>\n10<\/td>\n–<\/td>\nSet how often Zoom should check for updates in that folder<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
        timeUnit<\/td>\nMinutes<\/td>\nMinutes, Seconds<\/td>\nDetermines the time unit<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

        applyMetadata<\/td>\nDO_NOT_APPLY<\/td>\nAPPLY_ALL, APPLY_PER, DO_NOT_APPLY<\/td>\nDetermines which type of metadata will be applied on the asset CSV<\/code> type or key=value<\/code> type. Default value is DO_NOT_APPLY<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
        metadataPath<\/td>\n–<\/td>\n–<\/td>\nIs the path of the metadata file.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

        backupAssetsTo<\/td>\n–<\/td>\n–<\/td>\nThe backup folder path where the assets will be backed up to if backup is enabled. By default backup is disabled<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
        untouchedFreq<\/td>\n1<\/td>\n\u00a0–<\/td>\nControls which files present in the hot folder are actually eligible to be imported<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
        untouchedFreqType<\/td>\nMinutes<\/td>\nMinutes, Seconds<\/td>\nDetermines the time unit<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
        \u00a0oldPath<\/td>\n–<\/td>\n–<\/td>\nIs used in case of update, where the hot folder is updated. So the old hot folder path allows to update the old settings to the new one<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
        \u00a0Note: The parameters with\u00a0default values can be skipped from the http request parameter list<\/div>\n

        This can be issued from any browser or using a utility like “curl”. On successful completion of this request, a simple Hot Folder will be set up on the machine of IP 192.168.0.1 with the parameters indicated.<\/p>\n
