Another example of why you shouldn\u2019t believe everything thing you read on the internet. One of the primary issues for InDesign users is retaining connections to their linked images and assets, especially when transferring files between Mac and Windows. A blog (InDesign Secrets<\/a>) recently posted on Linda.com suggested you should always embed images into your InDesign files, ensuring that you never lose the links to your images. While this may seem like a good idea for a freelancer or small design group, this is not the optimal approach if you share files with others or have implemented a central repository (or DAM) in your organization.<\/p>\n

There are many problems that arise from embedding files into your InDesign documents. For example, if your original embedded files change, they will not update in your layout. Additionally, if you have multiple documents that rely on the same embedded images, you will be forced to update each document and re-embed those files to bring it up to date. Embedding images into InDesign documents can also cause your file sizes to increase exponentially. Not only are you duplicating the storage required to store those files, but also increasing the time it takes to upload and download those files.<\/p>\n

With release of evolphin Zoom 4.1., evolphin provides a plugin to the Adobe Drive application to integrate with the Zoom Digital Asset Management software. This allows users to drag-and-drop files stored and managed inside of Zoom to create links. This works with other Adobe Creative Cloud and design applications as well, including After Effects, Premiere Pro, Cinema 4D and Maya.
